Joel Trammell
Managing Partner
Joel Trammell is a co-founder and managing partner of
Lone Rock Technology Group. Joel's achievements in information
technology span more than two decades and include
numerous positions of leadership and management.
Joel is the CEO and co-founder of Cache IQ, an enterprise
software company providing cost effective data storage
solutions which utilize an innovative intelligent caching
technology.
In 1999, Joel co-founded NetQoS and led it to become one of
the fastest growing technology companies in the U.S. With a
customer base including over half of the Fortune 100, NetQoS
was the leader in application-centric network management.
The company was acquired by CA Technologies in 2009,
generating an over 10x return on capital to its private equity
investors.
Prior to NetQoS, Joel held executive positions at UST
Computers and HomeSmart, a company that he co-founded
to provide sales and marketing products for the residential
construction industry.
Joel is currently Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Austin Technology Council.
He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Louisiana Tech University.
John Eckman
Managing Partner
John Eckman is a co-founder and managing partner of Lone Rock Technology Group. John's experience includes over 15 years of private equity and entrepreneurial leadership.
John was previously a Vice President of The Carlyle Group, where he focused on leveraged buyout opportunities in the technology and business services sectors. Prior to Carlyle, John was a Vice President of Liberty Partners, where he completed numerous investments in software and technology companies, including NetQoS. John's prior experience also includes a position in the Mergers & Acquisitions group of Bowles Hollowell Conner & Co., a leading middle market investment bank serving the private equity industry.
John also co-founded SpineSelect, where as President, he led the company from start-up to an established player in the field of medical devices for minimally invasive spine surgery.
John received an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, with honors, where he was designated a Palmer Scholar. He received a B.A. in Economics from Davidson College, cum laude, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
